Updated 5 January 2026
New and existing players can register here!
Mustangs welcomes players of all ages, boys and girls! After registering, we’ll help place you on a team—or form new ones as needed. Whether you're new to the game or an experienced player, there's a place for everyone. Here’s a quick guide for parents on how community club football works.
Who are the Mt Annan Mustangs Football Club?
Mustangs is a thriving community soccer club located in Mount Annan. Our club has a rich history of promoting youth sports and fostering a sense of community among players, families, and fans. We are a medium sized club focused on encouraging a love of the game.
What is the MFA Winter Soccer Competition?
The Macarthur Football Association (MFA) competition sees clubs throughout the Macarthur area play each other in both friendly and competition games in various formats and rules depending on age group.
What age group will my child be placed in?
For 2026, the following table shows the age group based on year of birth. Players can play up one age group in certain circumstances.
| Year Born | 2026 Age Group |
| 2015 | U11 - Miniroos |
| 2016 | U10 - Miniroos |
| 2017 | U9 - Miniroos |
| 2018 | U8 - Miniroos |
| 2019 | U7 - Miniroos |
| 2020 | U6 - Miniroos |
Who manages the club?
A group of volunteers called the club committee runs the day-to-day operations of the club.
All positions are elected by members of the club at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held on 9 March 2026 and we would welcome additional volunteers to nominate and/or assist our committee on a casual basis.
What days of the week are games and training?
Miniroos (U5 to U12) and Juniors (U13 to U18) play games on Saturdays. Games for younger age groups typically start earlier in the day from 8:30am. Senior teams play on Sundays (from 9am) and Over 35’s play on both Friday nights (from 7pm) and Sundays (from 9am). A schedule of games is provided by the MFA in advance on the ‘Dribl’ app or website.
Training can occur on any weeknight for 1 hour starting from 5:00pm and the day/time varies by team and field availability. Training times are allocated by the club to try and match team preferences. A parents or guardian must remain at the field while their child is training/playing.
Where are the games/training sessions?
Games alternate each weekend between home and away grounds across the Macarthur area. Home games for Mustangs are played at Wandarrah Reserve, 2 Hibertia Pl, Mount Annan (Miniroos, Juniors and Seniors) or Birriwa Reserve, Fitzpatrick Rd Mt Annan (Juniors and Seniors).
Training is at one of our home grounds.
Click here for a list of all MFA grounds.
When does the season start and finish?
Training and pre-season trial games (friendly practice games against other teams) are organised from mid-March, and the first official game of the season starts in April. The last weekend of regular season games finish in September.
After the regular season, Miniroos teams have a Gala Day, and Junior/Senior teams that finish within the top 4 progress to semi-finals and grand finals in October.
The club holds an end of season presentation day/night for all members in October or November to recognise all players achievements.
That’s 6 months of training and games, excluding school holidays.
Actual season dates are confirmed by the MFA in February 2026.
What equipment will I need to play?
You will need to purchase shin pads ($15-$30) and studded football boots ($30-$350) from a retailer. Check online for sales and discounts!
In 2026, Mustangs will be providing all players with a full playing kit included with the cost of registration.
The club with loan you an official Mustangs playing jersey to wear on game days for the duration of the season.

Is there any other club merchandise I can purchase?
Yes, and the purchase of club merchandise is optional. Mustangs branded jackets, pants, hats etc. will be available for purchase. Any teams who are sponsored by a local business may have some of these items provided at no cost to them. Please contact president@mtannanmustangs.com.au if you are or know a local business that would like to sponsor a team!
Who coaches and manages the team?
We ask that one parent volunteers to coach and another parent volunteers to manage the team. We provide a 3-hour practical training session and video resources for coaches to use to make training easy and fun for kids. Coaches and managers are invited to attend monthly meetings at Birriwa Reserve Club House with the Committee to get information and ask questions. Our practical coaching training session for kids is scheduled in March each year.
Coaches for our Junior teams are typically established before the team is selected; however we would welcome and support parents who would consider coaching or being an assistant coach. Coaches are supported by the Clubs coaching coordinator as required.
All coaches and managers must hold a volunteer Working with Childrens check that can be obtained from ServiceNSW and this is verified by the Club.
Does training and games get cancelled if it’s raining?
The primary factor for wet weather is the ground condition. If the ground is not safe to play on due to surface water, the council will close the ground and games will be rescheduled if possible. Check our website and socials for ground status.
How do you communicate with members?
We use our Facebook page, Facebook group, club website and email to communicate information to all members. Further, we provide important information to coaches and managers at monthly meetings commencing in late February at Birriwa Clubhouse.
I am ready to sign up, what’s next?
The first step is to register on the Club Website and pay Club Membership Fees.
The second step is to register on play football website to pay Insurance/Association Fees.
Our Registrar will then get to work to create teams. Where there are multiple teams in an age group, we distinguish the team by a colour, i.e. Under 6 Blue, or Under 6 Red etc.
Miniroos (U5 to Under 11s) will be asked to attend a “Muster Day” on a Saturday in early March where parents are provided important information about the season and players are allocated by the Committee into their teams. Parents of the teams meet each other and then nominate a coach and manager and put forward the most suitable times for training. This information is then returned to the club and the player lists and training time allocation is provided to the coach and manager to coordinate with the parents of the team to start training sessions.
The club will provide the coaches and managers with the necessary training equipment, and jerseys, to hand out to players. Jerseys must be returned to the club at the end of the season.
I have further questions, who can I ask?
